Advantest is a Japanese test-and-measurement company best known for automatic test equipment used in semiconductor production. The manuals collected under this catalog label also document the company's earlier general-purpose measurement instruments, including spectrum, network, and optical analyzers, rather than only its present semiconductor-test portfolio.
History
The business was incorporated in 1954 as Takeda Riken Industry Co., Ltd. and initially concentrated on electronic measuring instruments. The Advantest name, derived from “advanced test technology,” first became associated with its semiconductor-test equipment and was adopted as the corporate name in 1985. Manuals bearing both the older product heritage and the Advantest name therefore belong to one continuous manufacturer lineage.
Advantest later expanded its semiconductor and component testing capabilities through internal development and acquisitions. Its current portfolio includes system-on-chip, memory, RF, and solid-state-drive test systems as well as electron-beam metrology and review equipment. In this archive, however, the most visible products are R-series spectrum and network analyzers, Q-series optical instruments, and related service documentation used in engineering laboratories.
