Aeroflex was an American electronics company whose test business produced avionics, radio, wireless-communications, and RF measurement equipment. The catalog primarily reflects Aeroflex Test Solutions and acquired instrument lineages such as IFR and Marconi Instruments, including ramp testers, signal generators, communications testers, and spectrum analyzers.
History
Aeroflex assembled a broad test portfolio through acquisitions, including IFR Systems in 2002 and Willtek in 2010. IFR had previously acquired Marconi Instruments, which explains why closely related models and manuals can appear under Marconi, IFR, and Aeroflex names. Aeroflex also operated a separate microelectronics business, but that semiconductor activity is not the focus of this manual collection.
Cobham acquired Aeroflex in 2014. VIAVI Solutions then acquired Cobham's AvComm and Wireless Test and Measurement businesses in 2018, including test assets that had come from Aeroflex; the Aeroflex name was used during a transition period that ended in 2021. Aeroflex should therefore be presented as a historical manufacturer and catalog imprint, with VIAVI identified as the principal successor for the transferred test-and-measurement business rather than as a parent of every former Aeroflex operation.
