Amprobe is a Fluke-owned brand of portable electrical test and measurement tools used by electricians, HVAC technicians, utility crews, and industrial maintenance personnel. The catalog spans clamp meters, multimeters, wire tracers, insulation and ground testers, power-quality instruments, electrical testers, and related field-service tools.
History
Amprobe began in Long Island, New York, in 1948 as Pyramid Instrument Company. One of its first products was an inductive clamp meter called the Amprobe, for which the company received a patent in 1950. The product name became closely associated with clamp-current measurement, and the business formally changed its name to Amprobe Instrument Corporation in 1960.
The company continued from Lynbrook, New York, until a 1999 combination and relocation associated with ATP. Danaher acquired Amprobe in 2006 and moved its worldwide headquarters to Everett, Washington. Amprobe is now presented as part of the Fluke family, while retaining its own brand and product catalog. Current product categories extend beyond clamp meters to multimeters, electrical and environmental testers, insulation and ground testing, wire tracing, underground locating, and HVAC service.
