History
Ray Stata and Matthew Lorber founded Analog Devices in 1965. Its first product was the Model 101 operational-amplifier module, and the company subsequently became closely associated with precision amplifiers, analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion, sensors, and digital signal processing. The archived AD- and ADA-series documents represent those component families rather than complete bench instruments.
Corporate transactions must be described with their direction intact. ON Semiconductor bought Analog Devices' CPU-voltage and PC thermal-monitoring business in 2008, and InvenSense bought the assets of its microphone product line in 2013; those were Analog Devices divestitures, not acquisitions from the buyers. Analog Devices did acquire Hittite Microwave in 2014 and later expanded through other acquisitions, while continuing to publish component documentation under the Analog Devices and ADI names.
