Boonton identifies the Boonton Electronics instrument business founded in 1947, not Boonton Radio Corporation, the separate 1934 company acquired by Hewlett-Packard. The catalog's 4200-, 4500-, 9200-, and related models belong to Boonton Electronics' RF and microwave power-measurement lineage.
History
Boonton Electronics Corporation was incorporated on September 10, 1947 and developed precision electronic measuring equipment, especially RF voltmeters, power meters, analyzers, sensors, and calibrators. That identity is distinct from Boonton Radio Corporation, which became known for Q meters and RX meters before Hewlett-Packard acquired it in 1959. Similar geography and the shared Boonton name should not be used to merge the two manufacturers.
Boonton later operated within Wireless Telecom Group alongside other RF and microwave brands. Maury Microwave acquired the Wireless Telecom Group businesses that included Boonton, Holzworth, and Noisecom in August 2023, and it now presents Boonton products and support within the Maury organization. Current certification material continues to identify Boonton Electronics and its Parsippany operation, supporting an active-company profile under Maury rather than a defunct HP lineage.
