Dickson develops environmental monitoring instruments and software for regulated facilities and temperature-sensitive assets. Its product lineage spans mechanical chart recorders, electronic monitors, standalone data loggers, calibrated replaceable sensors, and networked systems for temperature, humidity, and differential pressure. The catalog manuals reflect both earlier recorder and logger hardware and later computer-connected monitoring tools.
History
Dickson's official history says engineer Hunter A. Dickson founded the company in 1923, initially making temperature and pressure valves and switches. It sold a self-contained temperature chart recorder to the University of Chicago in 1938 and chose to focus on chart recorders in 1952. Soiltest acquired the company in 1971 and moved it from Chicago to Addison, Illinois; an independent investor acquired it in 1982, and electronic monitoring products followed in 1985.
Dickson added PC-based data capture and reporting in 1998, RF-connected instruments in 2007, and replaceable sensors plus Wi-Fi and Ethernet loggers connected to the DicksonOne cloud platform in 2012. The company's history says May River Capital acquired Dickson in 2018 and that Dickson later combined with OCEASOFT, broadening its connected monitoring and international metrology capabilities. Current products cover calibrated data loggers, chart recorders, cloud and desktop software, environmental mapping, validation, installation, and calibration. Current legal pages identify the North American seller as Dickson/Unigage, Inc. and the website publisher at the long-standing Addison location.
