History
ESPEC's official history begins in 1947, when TABAI MFG. CO., LTD. was established at the site of the present headquarters to manufacture scientific instruments. It was reorganized as Tabai Manufacturing Co., Ltd. in 1954 and began developing environmental-test equipment in 1960, which the company describes as a Japanese industry first. The Platinous series followed in 1969, along with expanding plants, service operations, quality systems, and a nationwide sales network.
The company adopted the Tabai ESPEC name in 1983, established what is now ESPEC North America, and changed its trading name to ESPEC CORP. in 2002. It subsequently expanded test centers, global subsidiaries, battery and energy-device facilities, and acquisitions while continuing environmental chamber manufacturing and testing services. Current corporate data identifies ESPEC CORP., founded July 25, 1947 and incorporated January 13, 1954, with its head office at 3-5-6 Tenjinbashi, Kita-ku, Osaka; it remains listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market.
