History
John Fluke founded the business in 1948 as the John Fluke Engineering Company. It later operated as John Fluke Manufacturing Co. and ultimately Fluke Corporation, developing a broad reputation in electronic measurement and industrial maintenance. Acquisitions expanded the portfolio, including the former Philips test-and-measurement operation and specialist brands, but products of associated companies such as Pomona cable assemblies should not be described as a core Fluke manufacturing specialty.
Danaher acquired Fluke in 1998. In 2016 Danaher created Fortive by spinning off a group of operating companies that included Fluke; Fluke did not itself spin off Fortive. Fortive continues to identify Fluke as an active test-and-measurement company founded in 1948 and based in Everett, Washington. Fluke Calibration, Fluke Networks, and Fluke Health Solutions are related businesses with distinct specialties, while this profile follows the broad Fluke label used by the archived manuals.
