Hioki is the catalog-facing name of HIOKI E.E. CORPORATION, a Japanese manufacturer devoted to electrical measuring instruments. History
Hioki traces its founding to June 1935, when Mizo Hioki began manufacturing electrical indicating meters in Tokyo. HIOKI Electrical Instrument Works was established in 1938, and the business relocated to Nagano Prefecture after World War II. Early products included panel meters and a circuit tester; HIOKI E.E. CORPORATION was incorporated in 1952.
The company's official history records later expansion into clamp current measurement, insulation resistance, digital testers, in-circuit testing, and waveform recording. It introduced the CT-300 Clamp Tester in 1971, the IR-305 insulation resistance meter in 1974, and the 8801 Memory HiCorder in 1983. Hioki moved its headquarters and principal factory to Ueda in 1990 and now develops, manufactures, sells, and services electrical measuring instruments from that location.
