Hitachi

History

Hitachi began in 1910 with electrical machinery and grew into a large group spanning information systems, energy, transportation, industrial equipment, and electronic products. That corporate breadth makes unrelated acquisitions in nuclear power, storage, or air conditioning poor context for a manual page centered on components and instruments. The documents here should be described by what they contain rather than by every modern Hitachi business segment.

Hitachi's historical semiconductor operations produced processors, memory devices, programmable read-only memories, transistors, and other integrated circuits documented under HD-, HM-, and HN-series model numbers. In 2003 Hitachi and Mitsubishi Electric combined their semiconductor operations in Renesas Technology, which later became part of Renesas Electronics. That successor history applies to the semiconductor line, while Hitachi remains an active independent company and the correct historical manufacturer for Hitachi-marked oscilloscopes and service manuals.
