History
Isotech's official history says John Tavener and his family founded the company in 1980. Its first product was a thermocouple referencing system for the United Kingdom's nuclear generators, followed by dry blocks, fluidized baths, furnaces, sensor assembly, and laboratory facilities. The company gained calibration accreditation in 1986, acquired intellectual property for liquid and salt baths and later primary-metrology solutions, and expanded its product range to support the International Temperature Scale of 1990.
The company subsequently added fixed-point cells, multifunction calibrators, the microK thermometry bridge, compact ISOTower systems, updated baths, blackbody sources, and lower-uncertainty calibration services. Isotech states that it exports through a network serving more than 125 countries and operates an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory used by national laboratories and industrial customers. Its current site identifies the legal company as Isothermal Technology Limited at Pine Grove, Southport, and continues to market primary, secondary, industrial, and infrared calibration solutions.
