History
Acoem and Met One's official histories date Met One Instruments to 1989 in Oregon, with a mission to simplify ambient-air measurement and improve the user experience. In the mid-1990s the company developed beta-attenuation mass-monitor technology, extending its focus into continuous particulate monitoring and regulatory air-quality measurement. Met One also expanded through other industry acquisitions and developed indoor particle counters, meteorological instruments, particulate samplers, and integrated monitoring systems.
Acoem acquired Met One Instruments in 2021 after a long commercial relationship with Acoem's former Ecotech air-quality business. The company remains active under the 'Powered by Acoem' identity and has expanded its offering with Acoem gas analyzers, cloud services, black-carbon monitoring, flow calibration, and broader multiparameter environmental systems. A current manufacturer manual identifies Met One Instruments, Inc. as headquartered in Grants Pass, Oregon and describes the 2021 acquisition as the combination of two air-quality monitoring providers.
