Monroe Electronics is a historic instrumentation name associated with non-contact electrostatic voltage and field measurement, surface-resistance testing, charged-plate analysis, and monitoring of static-control systems. Advanced Energy now presents Monroe as an acquired electrostatic product line alongside Trek.
History
Monroe Electronics began in 1954 as a custom engineering business founded by Robert E. Vosteen. The company's historical account says Vosteen developed a stable feedback method for non-contact measurement of static electricity in the late 1950s. That measurement work led to electrostatic voltmeters, field meters, resistance instruments, charged-plate monitors, probes, and monitoring systems represented by Monroe manuals in the catalog.
Advanced Energy acquired Monroe Electronics' electrostatic technology and product line in May 2018 and moved production and sales into its Trek operations. Advanced Energy continues to describe Trek and Monroe as product lines for electrostatic detection and measurement. Monroe's separate emergency-alert and broadcast-control history continued through Digital Alert Systems, but that business is not treated here as part of the acquired electrostatic instrument line.
