NH Research, commonly abbreviated NHR, develops programmable power-electronics test instruments and systems. Its catalog manuals cover AC and DC sources, electronic loads, power analyzers, modular power-test systems, and emPower software; current NHR-branded products within NI emphasize regenerative battery, grid, and high-power electrification testing.
History
NI's acquisition announcement describes NH Research as having more than 50 years of experience in power-conversion and power-supply test systems. The archived manual collection documents long-running 4000-, 5000-, and 6000-series loads, sources, analyzers, and system hardware, together with emPower control and test software. These products were used to test power supplies, batteries, converters, and other power-electronics equipment.
NI acquired NH Research on October 19, 2021. Current NI material retains NHR model branding for regenerative AC and DC loads, battery cyclers and emulators, and grid simulators such as the 9300, 9430, and 9510 families. A 2024 NI safety notice identifies NH Research, LLC as a subsidiary of National Instruments Corporation. Emerson acquired NI in October 2023, placing NI and its NHR business within Emerson's Test & Measurement segment.
