About Omega
Reviewed 2026-07-26
Omega Engineering is a measurement and control company founded around temperature sensing and now represented in the DwyerOmega group of brands. Its catalog covers sensors, meters, controllers, recorders, loggers, and related instrumentation for laboratory, industrial, and process applications.
History
DwyerOmega's official Omega history says Betty Ruth Hollander founded Omega Engineering in 1962 at her kitchen table. The first product was an ultra-fine-gauge thermocouple that was not then commercially available. From that temperature-measurement beginning, Omega developed a broad direct-to-engineer catalog of sensing, instrumentation, and control products.
The current Omega brand page identifies temperature products such as thermocouples and resistance temperature detectors, along with pressure transducers, flow meters, load cells, data loggers, and temperature controllers. An acquisition announcement from Arcline in 2022 described Omega as a provider of more than 100,000 products spanning temperature, humidity, pressure, strain, force, flow, level, pH, conductivity, data acquisition, and heating.
Arcline announced in April 2022 that it would acquire Omega from Spectris and add it to the Dwyer group of companies. Current DwyerOmega material describes Omega Engineering as part of the DwyerOmega family of brands and continues to identify Omega Engineering, Inc. as an affiliated business unit. Because those sources do not cleanly establish the exact present legal-parent chain or a distinct current Omega headquarters, this draft leaves ownership status and headquarters unresolved.
