Power Designs

History

A Power Designs instruction manual for the 2020B, 5020, and C500 names Power Designs Inc. in Westbury, New York and describes the instruments as precision calibrated low-voltage sources. A later owner's manual for the 2040A, 5020A, and 1001A gives a Danbury, Connecticut address and specifies digitally selected output, interpolation to a sixth digit, less than 100 microvolts of ripple and noise, four-wire measurement practices, and remote voltage and current programming. Those documents establish a genuine manufacturer identity rather than a model or distributor name.

The later manual also says Power Designs operated a 'predictable reliability' program from 1975 and qualified its inspection practices to a military quality specification. The reviewed primary documents do not establish when the company was founded, whether it still operates, who owns its intellectual property, or which business is the authoritative service successor. No current owner-controlled website was found. The profile therefore records the technically well-supported instrument lineage but deliberately leaves corporate dates, ownership, headquarters, and present operating status unresolved.
