Sartorius

History

Sartorius's official history begins in 1870, when Florenz Sartorius founded the precision-mechanical workshop F. Sartorius in Göttingen at age twenty-four. His improved short-beam analytical balance became an early commercial foundation; the company says it delivered its three-thousandth balance by 1895. Sartorius later expanded into other scientific instruments while retaining precision weighing as a core discipline.

The company's history identifies the Electrono 1 in 1954 as an early serially produced electronic balance and records production of the one-hundred-thousandth analytical balance in 1958.
