TSI is the catalog label for TSI Incorporated, an active precision-measurement instrument manufacturer headquartered in Shoreview, Minnesota. The manuals in this collection principally cover aerosol generation and particle measurement, cleanroom particle counters, airflow and ventilation meters, and occupational-health instruments for measuring noise, heat stress, and other workplace conditions.
History
TSI dates its company history from 1961 in Minneapolis and adopted the name TSI Incorporated in 1976, the same year it built its Shoreview facility. Its early work included sensitive air-velocity instrumentation; TSI's company history records that its anemometers were used on the Viking missions to Mars. The company subsequently developed a broad range of instruments for aerosol science, environmental monitoring, industrial hygiene, HVAC testing, and laboratory measurement.
Several names found in the catalog reflect later additions to TSI's instrument portfolio rather than aliases for the company. TSI acquired Alnor Instrument Company in 1995, adding established ventilation-test products, and acquired the Quest personal-safety product lines from 3M in 2018. This lineage accounts for TSI documentation covering Alnor airflow meters as well as QUESTemp heat-stress monitors, SoundPro sound-level meters, and related acoustic instruments. Alnor and Quest remain distinct product identities and should not be treated as alternate spellings of TSI.
