Current Teradyne ZT-Series material preserves part of the product lineage, but ZTEC should be treated as a historical manufacturer identity rather than a current independent company.
History
ZTEC developed compact modular instruments for design verification and automated test, including oscilloscopes and digitizers, arbitrary waveform generators, and RF vector signal generation and analysis. The platform mix included PXI, VXI, and LXI products, allowing instruments to be integrated into high-density systems. By the time of acquisition, official transaction material emphasized ZTEC's modular wireless test instruments for validating wireless components and chipsets.
Teradyne completed its acquisition of ZTEC Instruments, Inc. on October 25, 2013. Teradyne's filings identify Albuquerque, New Mexico, as ZTEC's location and later state that ZTEC was merged with LitePoint and included in the Wireless Test segment. Teradyne currently offers ZT-Series instruments and Z-Scope software, demonstrating continued product lineage without establishing ZTEC as a current separate brand or company. This distinction matters when connecting archived ZTEC manuals to present support.
